My asset is showing £0 cost pr sq.m and the report generation button has been disabled. Why is this and how can I fix this?

Modified on Fri, 13 Dec at 3:36 PM

The main reason the report generation button will be disabled is due to a lack of data to complete calcualtions. The key piece of data required for this is the cost per square metre value. If this value is displaying £0 this will cause the report generation button to become disabled.

There are a few reasons why an asset may be displaying the cost per square metre value as £0.

  • The property has 4 or more storeys
  • The property occupancy code is unknown
  • The platform is not able to collect enough data for the asset

How can I fix this?

The property has 4 or more storeys.

When a property has 4 storeys or more we are not able to display the cost per square metre. This is because when a property has 4 storeys the BCIS API reports a complex cost per square metre which we have previously been unable to extract. This has been worked on by our team with BCIS and we are now woring on implementing the UI around this.

When a property has more than 4 storeys, the BCIS API does not return a cost per square metre

In both cases, the fix for this is to open the ‘Edit Data’ field and change the asset so that it is less than 4 storeys. This will enable the asset to display a cost per square metre value and thus the report generation button will become enabled again.

The property occupancy code is unknown.

Sometimes the property occupancy of an asset will display as ‘–9999 – Unmatchable'. This happens when we have an OS occupancy that doesn’t have a sensible match to a BCIS occupancy. We are working on integrating secondary mappings in the future which will take this instance and find an alternative mapping from the BCIS occupancies.

In the mean time, the fix for this is to open the ‘Edit Data’ field and change the property occupancy from the dropdown to the most relevant BCIS code. This will enable the asset to display a cost per square metre value and thus the report generation button will become enabled again.

The platform is not able to collect enough data for the asset

Very occasionally the platform will successfully locate and identify an asset but there will not be enough data for it to complete a rebuild cost calculation. In this case the asset will appear very empty in the platform and the report generation button will be disabled due to the lack of data.

In this case, the data can be edited manually by opening the ‘Edit Data’ window. When this data is saved it may allow the calculation to be carried out and thus the report generation button will become enabled again. However, there may be data missing that is not displayed in the UI in which case manual editing of the data will not impact whether the calculation can be carried out. In this case please feel free to report a bug to us about the specific asset and we will see what we can do.

If you have tried to resolve the issue following the above guidance or the report generation button is disabled while all the above data is available, then please do report a bug to our support channel for this specific asset via the support portal here: https://support.intelligentai.co.uk/support/tickets/new
